How many hours are required to complete the CNA training program?

Complete Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program (NATCEP) training: Applicant completes a state-approved nurse aide training program (60 hours of classroom and 40 hours of clinical) or the HHSC computer-based training (CBT) 60-hour online classroom training and 40 hours of clinical training with a state-approved nurse aide training and competency evaluation program.

I have a certification from another State, can i practice in Texas?

Nurse aides who have an active certification in another state may transfer their certification to Texas.

I already completed the 60-hour CBT training. Can I complete only the clinical portion at Fortress Medical Institute?

Students who have completed an approved 60-hour CBT training program may be eligible for clinical completion consideration. However, all students must first schedule an appointment with Fortress Medical Institute for documentation review, skills evaluation, and program eligibility assessment before acceptance into clinical training.
